10 Insane Reasons People Faked Their Own Death

2. As A Break Up

The Break Up
Universal Pictures

Look, nobody likes to dump someone. It's awkward and sad and nobody really wants to be responsible for breaking somebody's heart, least of all seeing it happen in real time before your very eyes (because for some reason the phone is good for talking to people at long distances in every single situation except when it actually benefits you, tsk).

Diane Craven had a special aversion to terminating a relationship, however, and based on the conceit of this article and the amount we've already covered you can probably guess the tactic she opted for.

Like a Catfish before her time, Diane... well, she had actually met her lover Stuart Shortland, and in fact the married mother of three had been engaging in a secret affair with him for five years before she decided she'd had enough of him. Rather than simply sending him the broken heart emoticon.
