He has become a larger than life figure, with his face adorning dorm rooms and physics departments alike, but many forget that Einstein was in fact a refugee who fled his home country as it was consumed by chaos and hate. Einstein has become an icon of intelligence and scientific discovery and his work continues to be the basis for much of modern physics and our larger scientific understanding of the universe and how it works.

Einstein passionately professed pacifist ideals and despised war and violence, viewing knowledge and scientific learning as a source for human advancement and world peace. As the Nazis rose to power in Germany his Judaism led to much of the anti-semitic establishment criticising his work as un-German and un-patriotic, viewing his revolutionary theories as physics as mere Jewish nonsense.

Eventually the discrimination and violence became so intolerable that Einstein was forced to continue his study in the United States where he would come to even wider prominence in the global consciousness.

He continued to maintain his pacifist ideals throughout his life and his experiences in his home country only reinforced this as in the safety of the United States he continued to provide some of the most valuable scientific advancements in the history of mankind.
