10 Most Embarrassing Presidential Nicknames In History

1. "President Hardly" - Warren Harding

Sometimes when a leader dies in office their reputation can be greatly romanticised and improved as a result - but the history books unfortunately still portray Warren Harding as a hopeless leader. The 29th President of the United States served between March 1921 and August 1923 before he suddenly collapsed and died in California - and while alive his administration was dogged by a number of scandals, including the Teapot Dome scandal, which before Watergate was regarded as the biggest political scandal in American history. A (not-so-clever) play on Harding allowed his opponents to label him as "President Hardly" due to the fact he rarely made any actual important decisions of government because he was too busy trying to get over the scandals that were afflicting his administration.
