Turns out that, whilst the cyborg in question probably won't be modelled after a former Mr Universe, there is a chance that humanity will meet its end at the hand of those we make in our own image. The UN even called for a ban on killer robots to curb the use of mechanical soldiers...but they were probably worried about the Terminator happening too. They should be. Cambridge University started a research project called the Project For Existential Risk in 2012 to look into potential threats to humankind caused by developing technologies, and they concluded that the greatest among them are artificial intelligence, global warming, nuclear war and rogue biotechnology. The Singularity is a name given to the moment when Artificial Intelligence blossoms, starts making smarter and smarter robots, and eventually just makes humans surplus to requirements. So yes, killer robots might knock down your door and slaughter your family or they'll just take your job and eventually make us all extinct.
