10 Most Likely Ways Humanity Will Become Extinct

7. Global Warming Melts Everything, World Floods

When even the Pope is suggesting that maybe we should take some responsibility for this global warming thing, guys, these scientists have a point €“ you know that there's a problem. Despite a lot of irrational arguments against the facts, global warming is definitely a thing, and it's absolutely not going to get better unless we make some major changes. Even then, it might be a case of too little, too late. Climate change is something that has slowly occurred throughout our planet's history, but it's been accelerated dramatically thanks to pollution and the like. In The Day After Tomorrow, that leads to a new ice age; it could go the other way, melting ice caps and flooding the world. But more likely than any of those is that the effect will be slow and insidious, causing droughts across the Earth and eventually ruining crops, stuff like that. Cumulatively, that could lead to a worldwide famine for both food and water, eventually killing our entire species off with a combination of starvation and dehydration. Erk.
