10 Most Underrated Stephen King Books Of All Time

4. Revival

Josh Boone Revival
Vincent Chong

The most recent book to make the list, Revival was released in 2014 and is about as dark, striking and harsh as anything the author has ever written.

Spanning over five decades, the story is told from the perspective of Jamie Morton, a man whose life has been marred by tragedy and horror ever since his childhood town was set upon by a charismatic preacher called Charles Jacobs. Everyone loved Jacobs and his family, but after the death of his wife and son he denounced God and was banished from the town.

Jamie, meanwhile, has become a nomadic rock star and drug addict, and when the two miraculously cross paths once more, their bond finds them taking part in a series of bizarre experiments of hopes of curing death and figuring out what lies in the Afterlife.

The book is one of King's bleakest creations, with no optimism or niceties. Rather, it is a book which reveals only darkness about what is to come for people when they die, and that no matter what you do you are always doomed. It's really quite brilliant.
