A release date hasn't even been announced for the Apple Watch yet the internet, blogosphere, twitterverse and any other information source you care to check are all a flutter around Apple's first leap into the wearable tech minefield. After years of rumours and speculation, Apple's Watch came as a surprise to many and has received as much praise and derision as the original iPhone and iPad did when they were first announced. So what is exciting about it? Well, Apple is well known for taking their time to bring a product to market that they are happy with. Samsung of course, hit the market first with the Galaxy Gear which most people were turned off by and subsequent attempts at wearable tech that expands the functionality of a paired phone have been okay, but never amazing. Apple appear to have taken plenty of time to make sure their first watch is right and you can't fault them for what they have provided. For a start, the design is simple, elegant and stunning, with enough options to mean everyone can remain somewhat individual. For all there will be those who refuse to accept the watch because it is an Apple device, there are plenty preparing to queue up for as long as necessary to get their hands on one. The main thing that the Apple Watch is doing differently to other smart watches is dropping the reliance on touch screen gestures. While the screen is still touch sensitive, the watch can also be controlled with gestures, the rotary "crown"/home button, essentially simplifying the controls while also avoiding to obscure the display. Consider the behind the scenes functionality such as the heartbeat sensor, the fitness tools and then the ability to read and reply to text messages, use Siri and a whole host of other basic iPhone functionality and it's easy to see that Apple look like they're poised to dominate the wearable tech market with their first attempt.
