10 Mysterious Celebrity Deaths That Shocked The World
2. Brittany Murphy
Hollywood actress and singer Brittany Murphy, star of Clueless, Sin City, 8 Mile and Happy Feet (apparently), was found collapsed in the bathroom of her Los Angeles home on the morning of 20th December 2009. Attempts to resuscitate her at the scene failed, and she was pronounced dead at the hospital two hours later. The cause of death was declared to be pneumonia, with contributing factors like anaemia and intoxication from multiple medication taken to fight a nasty respiratory infection. So far, so terribly sad but it became weird when, five months almost to the day later, Murphys widower Simon Monjack was found dead in the same house especially when the coroners verdict came back with an identical cause of death, pneumonia and severe anaemia. Given that Murphy and Monjack had become reclusive and paranoid in the months before their deaths, and that the word was that they lived in unsanitary conditions described as appalling and unhealthy, the Los Angeles County Department Of Health had determined that toxic mould on the walls in the couples home might have triggered both deaths. However, the coroner dismissed that possibility, given that no fungi was present in the lungs of either of them. The plot thickened when it was found that Monjack and Murphys mother Sharon had attempted to set up a charitable foundation in Murphys name shortly after her death. Upon investigation, it was found that the organisation had not been properly set up as a non-profit organisation, and it was closed down. Many noted that Monjack had a history of financial and legal irregularities, up to and including previous allegations of fraud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5NMj_UlA4M Upon Monjacks death, Murphys largely estranged father Angelo Bertolotti suddenly appeared on the scene to resurrect the Brittany Murphy Foundation. He would also kick up a stink about his daughters death, demanding testing of her hair. Only last year, evidence surfaced that indicated that a toxicology report indicated poisoning. Bertolotti was keen to indicate as blatantly as possible - without actually coming out and saying it - who might have been responsible:
"Let her explain why she had my daughter execute a will, leaving everything to her mother and specifically excluding Simon. Let Sharon explain why she decided to do this right after Brittany and Simon told her of their plan to move to New York and have a baby. Let Sharon clarify how she was planning to support herself for the first time in decades, once Brittany moved away. Let her talk about auctioning off Brittany's underwear, passport, SAG card and clothes. There are many unanswered questions that have to be addressed. Out of three people living together in the same house, only one survives and benefits financially."
The hopeless muddle surrounding Murphy and Monjacks deaths continues with no sign of stopping, her parents (neither of whom seems particularly right in the head) determined to go to war over the matter, each engaged in a private passive-aggressive blame game over who was at fault...
