Brighten your gaff up with a super fluffy version of nature's toughest creature. Tardigrades (also known as water bears or, adorably, moss piglets) are a species of micro-animal that are nothing short of a natural wonder. Despite the fact that they spend most of their days snuggled up in moss and lichen, they are able to tolerate extreme conditions that would kill most other life forms. They can survive in temperatures from -272°C to 150 °C, pressure up to 6 times greater than the deepest parts of the ocean, extreme dehydration and starvation, large doses of ionising radiation and they can even survive exposure to the vacuum of space. Whether it's just a coincidence that they can survive in space or whether they're actually a teeny tiny force of invading aliens, remains to be seen.
