6. Ripping Off Things From London, England Makes Us Look Second Rate

We are not very original in our city. The biggest city here is called the Thames River. What's the biggest river in England? The Thames River. The above photo is from a promotional picture advertising it as a the "other" Thames River. One of the biggest streets in the city is Oxford, which is named after the major university in England. Richmond is another street here, which is named after a suburb in England. There's a Covent Garden Market downtown just like the very famous one in England too. Some people might see it as a tribute. Others may think of it as those of us in Canada being not very creative. Some of the other big roads are Adelaide, which is in Australia and then Wellington from New Zealand, so it's not just England that we steal things from. There are other kinds of things like that, but it just shows that we really are like a mini version of England and that sort of thing can sometimes bother people.
