A dog will worship its owner for providing it with food, shelter and love, whereas cats see themselves as gods because their owners provide everything. As a species they have an intolerable arrogance, blessing their owners with attention when they want it, but giving very little love back to the people who ensure that they are so well treated. The owner could be sitting around, watching TV, when all of a sudden the cat struts in and demands to be entertained. If they are ignored they simply make themselves a bigger nuisance they can be easily distracted with a laser pointer or a mouse toy but the onus is on the owner to entertain their cat, not on the cat to entertain itself. The relationship between a cat and its owner isn't a fair one. It is a one sided relationship where the cat constantly receives and the owner gets very little back from their emotional and financial investment in the creature.
