10 Problems That Only 'Problem' Dog Owners Will Understand

If your dog can be a bit of a handful, imagine having one that has real issues.

We all love our dogs, they can be a person's best friend, companion and love of their life. Some dogs, however, can really make you work for all that love and affection. If your pooch falls into the category of being a bit anti-social, fairly needy, overly nervous or straight out crazy, then you'll be able to relate to some of these problems. Yet despite all the stress these dogs with 'issues' can cause their owners, they still get affection poured upon them. Usually a 'problem' dog actually needs more attention than your standard canine. So if you ever see someone struggling with a giant mastiff in the street, watching in pity as the poor owner gets dragged about by their 200 pound ball of hair, spare a thought for everything else they have to go through. Walks are probably the least of their problems.

10. Having To Dog-Proof Your Home

If you've got the kind of dog who believes cupboard doors are there to opened, sofa are just giant chew toys, and walls are actually a delicious snack, then you'll be no stranger to the needs of having to dog-proof your home. You can laugh in the face of couples complaining about having to baby-proof their house, at least a toddler doesn't have the destructive power of a over-excited labrador. Dog-proofing a home can cost a fortune: putting locks on anything that opens, anti-chew solution on all the walls, baby gates everywhere. All dogs ending up costing their owners a pretty penny, but for those mutts who consider a house their own personal plaything, these can be the most expensive dogs of all. All of this cost is worth it, of course, although once your dog destroys something priceless, you may, for a brief second, wonder why you never opted for a cat.
