10 Reactions Everyone Has Visiting World Famous Places
2. Whats Up With All The Scaffolding?
Landmark/Attraction: The Parthenon Location: Athens, Greece Designer/Artist: Callicrates & Ictinus Completed: 432 B.C. Light and airy that's how most people describe the Parthenon, and that's mostly attributed to its architecture. Nothing in the Parthenon was built to be rigid or straight, and these gentle curves give the entire building a sense of weightlessness. But after hiking up steep hills to see it, you may be surprised to find that it is covered with metal scaffolding; it's a testament to the Parthenon that it nevertheless retains its beauty and airiness. Those scaffolds have been there for decades, in varying configurations, and it's unlikely that they will be going anywhere, anytime soon. The Parthenon will always be worth a visit, but it seems destined to be perpetually 'under construction' and 'undergoing maintenance' for the foreseeable future.
