10 Real-Life Curses That (Supposedly) Killed People

2. Hope Diamond

The Hope Diamond is a huge diamond, deep-blue in colour thanks to traces of boron present in its structure. One of the most famous diamonds in the world, the Hope Diamond is legendary not only for its huge size, but also its supposed curse. For centuries, the Hope Diamond has supposedly caused woe and misfortune to its owners. From Prince Ivan Kanitovski who was killed by Russian revolutionists to an innkeeper that was torn apart by dogs, many owners of the Hope Diamond have allegedly been involved with bizarre, premature deaths. Thankfully, the curse of the Hope Diamond appears to now be inactive. The Smithsonian Institution acquired it in 1958 and, according to a curator, has brought "nothing but good luck" to the museum ever since.
