10 Reasons Why The Lost City Of Atlantis EXISTS In West Africa
1. There Is Significant Evidence Of A Global Cataclysm
Solon, the originator of this tale, claims to have heard it from an Egyptian priest in a temple of the goddess, Neith. The priest said that the destruction of Atlantis took place 9000 years before the time of narration of the story, which was around 600 B.C. If this account is true, then Atlantis was destroyed sometime around 9,600 B.C, which is 11,600 years ago from the present day.
This lies right at the end of the historical period, known as the Younger Dryas, which was a period of rapid warming followed by rapid cooling. The Younger Dryas Impact hypothesis describes a cataclysmic flood that swept down from North America and Greenland, likely as a result of a meteor impact on a glacier. The impact caused large scale melting of ice, resulting in floods that swept across global landmasses leaving destruction in their wake.
A possible candidate for this meteor impact has recently been discovered in northern Greenland. The huge crater was uncovered beneath the Hiawatha Glacier. Large platinum deposits, consistent with those that could form as a result of a meteoric impact, have been uncovered in places around the world, most notably in Greenland, Eurasia, North America, Mexico, Chile, and South Africa. They date back to the same period of 12,900 to 11,600 years ago.
Whether or not this global cataclysm was the cause for the destruction of Atlantis, we may never know.
