10 Regular People Who Declared Themselves Royalty

2. The Not-So-Last King Of Scotland

Idi Amin was a lot of things. A major general in the post-colonial Ugandan Army, he violently deposed the democratically elected President Milton Obote, promoted himself to field marshal, and seized power as President of Uganda. Which nobody actually voted for. He also took another, lesser known title. Amidst all the other horrendous, awful genocide he was perpetrating €“ it's estimated Amin killed between 100,000 and 500,000 people in pursuit of political repression, ethnic cleansing, and in favour of a fair legal system €“ he had his other quirks. Like proclaiming himself to be the last true king of Scotland, a country some 6000 miles away. Idi Amin never went to Scotland. Then again, he didn't earn most of the honours in his full, official title €œHis Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular€, either.
