10 Regular People Who Declared Themselves Royalty

6. King Of Germany, Scuppered By Fake Driver's Licence

There are many ways one can abdicate. Most royalty will serve their kingdom until the die; rarely do they retire from the throne. Then a lot of them will be forcibly removed from the seat of power by having their heads cut off. What you hear about less often is a king forced to abandon his duties thanks to a counterfeit ID. Peter Fitzek was self-proclaimed king of a state called the Kingdom of Germany, which he made up himself, which promised to €œnot serve capitalism, but the people€. After losing a parliamentary election, the entrepreneur decided to just up and buy some land in the German town of Wittenberg, declaring it his own state. It's there that he intended to rule, as King of Germany. Those plans were scuppered somewhat when he was sentenced to three months in prison for possessing a fake driver's licence apparently issued by his imaginary country. Still, he showed up in court wearing a shirt boasting his royal coat of arms, much to the amusement of the judge in his case.
