Dame Edna Everage is the drag persona performed by Australian satirical comic legend Barry Humphries. She has been in the game for a very long time indeed, first performing in the 50s to small theatres across Melbourne, Australia. Dame Ednas popularity grew exponentially, from a small-time stage performer, becoming the much loved cultural icon she is today. She has hosted numerous talk shows and one-person performances, in Australia, the UK and the US, including her 2000 and 2004 Broadway hit Royal Tour which won her a Tony. She has also worked with some huge comedy legends and has appeared as a guest on many popular talk shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Parkinson. Dame Ednas fame in the US, again surged when in 2001-2002 she appeared on the fifth season of the hit US show Ally McBeal as guest star Claire Otoms. The viewers immediately loved her fabulous style and dry sense of humour; once again validating her cult icon status and securing Dame Edna near the top of the Drag Rich List.
