A medieval castle developed from an original constructed by William the Conqueror in 1068, Warwick Castle is situated on the River Avon in Warwickshire, England. Stone walls were added in the 12th century and the side of the castle opposite the town was fortified during The Hundred Years War. It remained a stronghold into the 17th century when it was granted to a Lord who turned it into a country estate. The Tussauds Group of wax museum fame eventually purchased the castle, which explains the creepy figures stationed throughout. Many people have witnessed strange occurrences at the castle. From footsteps to whispers, the halls of the great edifice come alive at night. One such spectral resident is Sir Fulke Greville who was an owner of the castle. Greville had an altercation with a servant who then stabbed him. The servant, horrified at his actions, slit his own throat. Greville died a slow death from an infection. His cries of agony can still be heard resonating from the highest tower of the castle.
