Mack Ray Edwards was a child murderer who was active between the years of 1953 and 1970, where he killed and molested at least six children in Los Angeles.

Edwards' first kill came on June 20, 1953, when he murdered eight-year-old Stella Darlene Nolan, and he killed two more kids in the summer of 1956, including 12-year-old Brenda Jo Howell, the sister of his wife.

The next murders Edwards could be linked to occurred over 12 years later, where he killed three more children between November 1968 and May 1969.

But Edwards' activity came to a swift halt in 1970 when he and a teenage accomplice kidnapped three teenage girls.

But after they escaped, he walked into a Los Angeles police station and confessed to killing and molesting six children in the two decades prior.

Edwards could only be convicted for the murder of three recovered bodies, with authorities speculating that Edwards, a heavy equipment operator who often worked on highways, may have hidden the remains of the other three under highways.

The year after turning himself in, Edwards hanged himself in his jail cell at San Quentin State Prison following two unsuccessful prior attempts.
