10 Sure-Fire Signs You're Turning Into Your Mother

1. Suddenly Realising How Well You Actually Get On With Your Mother

Mumgif Gif The biggest and most important sign that you're slowly transforming into your mother... is simply that you realise just how well you actually get on with her. Oh, sure, you'll have plenty of fights and arguments, but chances are that you'll resolve them within a day or so. You'll realise that the reason you butt heads is because you're extremely similar, only with the slight differences causing those moments of friction that exist in every family. Maybe this realisation will come to you when you're over at your house for dinner, and you realise that you interact the same way with your significant other, as your mother does with hers. Maybe it'll come from that wonderful moment of sharing when one of you expresses an opinion and the other completely validates it. You might not turn into a carbon copy of her - after all, you have your own personality, tastes, and Netflix queues - but you start noticing that you start laughing at the same stuff and sharing all the same jokes. As you mature, she might well turn into one of your closest friends, while still being the woman who will comfort you when you're sad or your heart is broken. You start to realise that most adults don't actually have a clue what they're doing, and that when you were a kid, they were just trying their best. You forgive your mother - a lot. This might not be a universal experience - after all, families are all different and all valid, no matter where you are or where you hail from - but it's certainly strong enough that it brings up the old question of nature versus nurture. Is there something in the biology that makes you like your mother - or do you start becoming like your mum because she raised you and is your mum? That's a question for another day...
