10 Terrible Batman Toys You'd Probably Never Buy

9. Batman Apptivity Sets

Remember when toys were simple? Those were the days. These days, in the age of electronics, everything has gone all techy on us - which results in nonsense like this little play-set The Batman Apptivity sets, from toy giants Mattel (who were responsible for classic toy-lines such as the 1980s Masters of the Universe figures and play-sets and are still responsible for Barbie dolls to this day), let kids launch the app on their iPads before placing the Batman figures on the screen and fighting crime in Gotham with an array of accompanying accessories. This bizarre mix of toys and video games essentially says "to hell with imagination, let us create a world for your toys to play in" (which sucks). What happened to creating worlds in your head and taking your toys in to the garden to have them fight in imaginary jungles, or in to your bedroom to create castles from cardboard boxes for them to play in? This over-reliance on technology for kids to play with toys is just sad. The sets include Riot Cannon Batman, Batarang Strike Batman, EMP Assault Batman and Grapnel Attack Batman, all of which amounts to meaningless drivel.
