Prophesying the collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967, the mothman is a worldwide legend for his forewarning of the tragedy that killed 46 people. Seen as, you guessed it, a man and a moth combined, his appearances across West Virginia have become something of legend since.

Some claim he’s an alien, some that he’s a supernatural manifestation - and whilst he was linked to trying to save the town from the bridge collapse, he was also reported to terrorise young couples in cars in the days beforehand.

His glowing red eyes and pervasive sense of dread tell a different story to that of a saviour however, with his appearances potentially being linked to causing such accidents rather than warning of them.

Sightings have been listed at numerous other locations since his original appearance in the '60s, with the Mothman appearing before a group of miners in Germany before its impending cave in, as well as haunting the corridors of a the nuclear plant in Chernobyl before its meltdown.

Mothman is a creature you really don’t want to see, with reports of psychological distress hand in hand with his appearances across the globe. That, and everything around you will likely turn into a pile of rubble imminently. Who knows when he will next appear?
