Nestled deep in the picturesque Northumberland landscape lies the former fortification known as Chillingham Castle: a place with hauntings a plenty and many secrets ready to be discovered. Over the centuries, the castle has played host to battles, gentry, Lords, Ladies and a whole host of spooky goings-on. Like a few of the places on this list, Chillingham Castle has reports of multiple different hauntings, as if there are quite a few spirits kicking around and letting their ghostly presence known. Guests at the hotel have reported incidents of sensation, as if being guided towards something, as well as blue flashes, orbs and, rather inexplicably, the sudden appearance of dead flies. The most consistent report, however, is that of the White Pantry Ghost. The tale goes that a footman was guarding the inner pantry when he was woken from his slumber by a very pale woman begging for water. Thinking she was a guest of the castle he got up to obey before he remembered that the castle was sealed and there would be no way of anyone being able to get in through the gates. The White Pantry Ghost has been seen on many occasions; every time begging for water, leading people to believe that she was the victim of poisoning. As well as the White Pantry Ghost, there are tales of voices being heard in the great hall, banging sounds coming from the dungeons, creeping sensations within guest rooms and ominous shadows spotted in the courtyard at night. All in all it adds up to a positively bouncing area of paranomal activity. Acorah says: Oh, you know, I think I might have left the iron on, you go on ahead...
