This may go down in history as one of the biggest mockeries in American politics. In a March 2011 interview on Good Morning America, Donald Trump was already suggesting he may run for president. During the interview he expressed some skepticism about the legitimacy of Barack Obama being born in America. Trump quickly became one of the most outspoken representatives of the "birthers", an anti-Obama contingent who pushed for hard evidence of Obama's birthplace. This became the launchpad for a myriad of "Where's the birth certificate?" propaganda that ranged from bumper stickers to billboard ads. After President Obama released his long-form birth certificate in 2011, the birther rage died down considerably. As far as Trump's current thoughts on the matter? When CNN pundit Anderson Cooper recently asked Trump about it, Donald replied "I really don't know...I don't want to get into it" and insisted "I'm off that subject". Trump's birther views may no longer be front and center, but they are far from forgotten.
