It is commonly assumed that Nazi Germany's military might was superior to nearly every nation on Earth at the time due to its superiority on the battlefield (its Blitzkrieg campaigns come to mind), and its innovations in the development of military technology, the likes of which the world had never seen up until that point. The truth is that despite Germany's technological advancements, their weaponry was unreliable and hard to maintain.

Notable German advancements during the war include the V-2 missile and the Me 262 jet fighter but they also lagged behind in a number of areas compared to the British, French, and Americans. However, their battlefield strategies and diligent analysis of their enemies' technology helped them stay ahead of the curve on multiple occasions.

The narrative surrounding the Germans' technological advancements led to Allied powers seeking them for their own use, even after the war. The ''intellectual reparations'' saw a considerable number of Nazi scientists working for the US as well as the development of Nazi-developed prototypes. However, these weapons (aside from the rocket technology) did not live up to their mythic reputation due to their impractical nature.
