10 Things That Wouldn't Exist Without Leonard Nimoy

7. Galvatron's Voice

Spock will remain the role he is best remembered for, but Leonard Nimoy was fairly catholic when it came to his geeky acting parts. Along with the likes of Fringe and guest spots in both The Simpsons and Futurama, he was part of the frankly staggering ensemble brought together to voice characters in the eighties animated Transformers movie. Alongside former Monty Python star Eric Idle and veteran screen genius Orson Welles in his final acting job before his death (as the voice of a planet-sized transformer that eats other planets €“ no, seriously), Nimoy had a plum part as Galvatron, the movie's principal antagonist. Well, besides the planet-sized transformer that eats other planets. Nimoy voiced Galvatron, the form Decepticon leader Megatron takes after being left for dead by his own troops, only to be resurrected by Welles' Unicron. And he does a great job, too, revelling in the chance to be a scenery-chewing supervillain. Nobody could've provided a better performance. Except maybe Brando.
