10 Things We Learned From Elon Musk On Joe Rogan Experience

4. The Neuralink Implant Could Be Ready In Less Than A Year

One of the most fascinating topics discussed across the two-hour conversation was the future possibilities of neurotechnology developed by Neuralink, a company owned by Musk. On his first appearance on the podcast, Elon alluded to the existence of the company, but at that time everything was very much under wraps.

This time though, Musk had free reign to talk about the project that really wouldn't be at all out of place in a sci-fi movie. To put it in layperson's terms, Neuralink is developing a brain implant that in the short term will repair damaged parts of the brain and be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Despite sounding like something straight out of utopian, or possibly dystopian, fiction, Musk asserted that the first trials of the technology on human subjects are not far away, and could even take place less than 12 months from now.
