10 Things We Learned From Eric Weinstein On The Joe Rogan Experience

7. Insects Have Crazy Sex Lives

One of the stranger subjects discussed on the podcast was the strange, and often violent sex lives of insects.

After Eric revealed that he hasn't seen the smash-hit Netflix docuseries Tiger King, the pair began talking about some of the stranger parts of biology, with Joe describing the violent encounters that take place between his pet rabbits.

Weinstein then seemingly decides to double down on the animal-related weirdness when he asks the host of the worlds most-downloaded podcast if he has ever seen penis-fencing flatworms.

Unsurprisingly, the sexual habits of the soft-bodied invertebrates is not something that Joe, or presumably most of his audience, are very aware of.

Weinstein explains the 'traumatic insemination' (his words not mine) that takes place between the species when they mate, with two flatworms fighting and the loser essentially having to then carry the offspring.

While probably not what most were expecting from a podcast between an economist and a mixed martial arts commentator, Weinsteins wild tales of animal biology actually serve as some welcome respite from some of the more serious topics discussed in the episode.
