It is now legal to posses up to one ounce of cannabis in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Colorado and grow up to six plants for personal use. In Colorado alone, the sales of legal cannabis was recorded at over $246 million, all being appropriately taxed and regulated. Cannabis is also legal on prescription in 23 of America's 50 states, and available from medical marijuana dispensaries. According to Nerd Wallet, a personal finance site, America would net $3 billion annually in taxes if all 50 states legalised the plant.
