Pratt will consider himself fortunate to land the roles he has done so far in his career after being discovered for his first ever acting part while waiting on tables at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant in Hawaii by director and actress Rae Dawn Chong. But he was lucky to even survive his teenage year after an incident at sea while fishing. He told The Mirror: "I was fishing on this rock point called Three Sisters. Its really, really turbulent and dangerous water shark infested. Its all sharp lava rock that rises and falls 10 feet with every bit of tide, its so deep and so powerful.
"Im on this point fishing into this hole and I didnt notice a set of waves coming in. All of a sudden there was no land around me, I was surrounded by water almost up to my waist. I felt the weight of the water start pulling me in. I was wearing flip flops and I just dropped everything, went down and grabbed the lava rock. It nearly pulled me off but, before the waves could come back up, I somehow climbed up the wall. I lost my shoes, my rod, but I was very lucky."
