Dushku is used to playing the shady characters throughout her career, and she's more than happy with that, claiming that it's simple to be an on-screen villain. She told Maxim: "It's easy to play a bad girl. You just do everything you've been told not to do, and you don't have to deal with the consequences, because it's only acting." But she nearly landed the leading lady role in the Tobey Maguire Spider Man days. She auditioned for the role of Mary Jane Watson, and got as far as a reading with Maguire, though the part eventually went to Bring It On co-star Kirsten Dunst.
