007 fans will know that Fiennes took on the role of M in the James Bond films in 2012, taking over Dame Judi Dench whose own M character died at the end of Skyfall. But did you know that years ago, he was being considered for the lead part of 007? He met Bond producer, Albert Cubby Broccoli 20 years ago to discuss the role of Bond. There was a conversation that was great, except that it didnt lead to anything on both sides. I dont think I felt ready to commit and I think they were looking at Pierce . In hindsight, Fiennes stated that he would have played a "terrible" James Bond, and that he's happier playing M, alongside Daniel Craig as Bond who is "brilliant".
