10 Things You Didn't Know About The Adult Movie Industry

3. Free Online Content Reduces Porn Movie Production

Known locally as €œSilicone Valley€ or €œSan Pornando€ and located a few miles northwest of Walt Disney Studios, San Fernando Valley is the heart of Southern California€™s X-rated film industry and at one time was the centre where 90% of all porn films distributed in the US were produced. Since 2007, however, production has declined sharply, due mostly to free content on the internet. Sites that offer amateur or pirated content have upended adult entertainment, resulting in wage cuts and fewer films being made. A decade or so earlier, the top dozen performers, who had contracts and managers, might€™ve made $150,000 while a €œB Girl€ earned $800 per scene, but in these reduced times, the thinking is that if you want to be a star, you have to be willing to work cheap.
