6. A Reminder Of Bear Country

The area that Splash Mountain is located in at Disneyland is called Critter Country but that wasn't always its name.

Prior to the construction of Chick-A-Pin Hill and all the creatures in it, the area used to be known as Bear Country. The main attraction was the Country Bear Jamboree (which was funnily enough replaced by another bear, Pooh).

On the walk past the Haunted Mansion into Bear Country guests would pass a cave where if they listened closely enough they would hear Rufus the Bear. Park goers needn't have been scared of Rufus as he always seemed to be asleep and snoring away.

When Splash Mountain opened as a tribute to Rufus and Bear Country you can still hear a snoring bear. Listen out for Br'er Bear snoring away as you pass a cave on the ride itself.

Next time you ride, before you get to the first waterfall, listen out for the snoring.
