Okay, so maybe not to the general public. There are people out there that believe that vampires walk among us and even go as far as drinking human blood because of the need to feed off other people's energy. It's not widely practiced, of course - because people tend to frown on that sort of behaviour - but it's still probably best to get some garlic and holy water just to be on the safe side.
