'I thought it was Midgeure, like midgeure cheddar".

In the west we're so frequently reminded that Christmas is a time for giving. It's a time when we acknowledge the gluttonous lifestyle we have and work to help those who need care at such a difficult time. Christmas in 1984 brought with it a song that was heard throughout the world, with several of the '80s' most iconic artists joined forces to record the smash hit 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'.

The song quickly became the fastest selling single in UK history and in doing so made huge strides to ending poverty in underprivileged countries. Proceeds were raised to fight famine in African nations, and while the tune is synonymous with Bob Geldof, it's perhaps less known that Midge Ure featured as a writer and producer.

Midge Ure is a successful artist in his own right (well known to gamers for his cover of 'The Man Who Sold The World' featured in Metal Gear Solid 5), and though his career is well known, his involvement in this Christmas classic --and thus charitable efforts-- are decidedly less so.

Geldof and Ure's masterpiece is a constant reminder that there is still work to be done.

Fan of ducks, ice tea and escapism. Spends much of his time persistently saying 'I have so much studying to do' before watching Zoey 101 for the millionth time. Thinks Uncharted 3 is the best one.
