9. He Was The Inspiration For Trevor In GTA V
Though this hasn’t been officially admitted (sorry for 'click-baiting', I guess) those with a keen eye should have noticed whilst playing GTA V that Trevor takes after Thompson in a variety of different ways. His desire to live away from civilisation, his dependency on guns and drugs and, oh yes, his absolute bat-s**t yet brilliant approach to most of life’s problems, all of which sum up Thompson to a T (yes, I suppose is a terrible alliteration orientated joke about how they both have names starting with T. Not my best observation, I know).
Further proof of this insane connection comes in the form of Ron, Trevor’s ‘business partner’, who dresses exactly the same as Thompson’s pseudonym from 'Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas', Raoul Duke, what with the Hawaiian shirt, the aviator shades and the beige shorts.
Though his tendency to go on murderous killing sprees does diverge from Thompson (or at least I hope so) it’s hard to deny that when you take the reins of the rampaging third protagonist as the game you’re essentially going all gonzo on Los Santos.
