10 Weirdest Deaths In History

6. Tycho Brahe

There's a recurring theme throughout a few of these entries, and that is that intelligence does not equal infallibility, nor does it equal universal aptitude in every field. Take Gouverneur Morris. Great guy. Brilliant philosophical mind. Bang on about slavery being atrocious. Not a doctor by any stretch. It's much the same here.

Tycho Brahe was a renowned Danish astronomer - one of the fathers of the discipline. He observed that the Moon revolves around Earth, and that other planets orbit the Sun. He also refuted Aristotle by arguing that the cosmos were not static, and that new stars could be formed. He did all this without the use of a telescope. Brahe's works influenced titans like Johannes Kepler.

A brilliant mind, to be sure. So how did he die?

While attending a banquet in Prague, he suddenly had to urinate, but refused to excuse himself to go to the bathroom, as it would've been a violation of etiquette. When he got home, he couldn't urinate, except in small amounts and with incredible pain. He died 11 days later, presumably of either a bladder or kidney infection.

Moral of the story: pee. No matter when, where, or what you're doing. At a wedding? Do it. A funeral? No rest for the wicked. In bed? Hey, it's YOUR property.
