By far the most recent tragic incident to occur on Disney property is the death of two-year-old Lane Graves, a toddler whose family was staying at the Disney World resort hotel The Grand Floridian.

Lane was playing at the shore of a nearby lagoon when an alligator emerged from the water and suddenly dragged the the boy away. Despite a massive rescue effort, Lane's body was found the next day near the edge of the lagoon, where it was determined he had died from downing and traumatic injuries.

While alligators are not uncommon in Florida, Disney has radically altered its wildlife protocol in the brief time following. Not only are there many more signs near lakes and bodies of water warning to stay alert and away from danger, they've also began censoring mentions of alligators and crocodiles from shows and parades, including doing away from the warning on the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise attraction that if parents don't watch their children, "the crocodiles will".
