12 Dangerous Things Anti-Vaxxers Believe That Are Actually Child Abuse

1. No Joke Here, Just Me Being Mad

I’m really sick and tired of playing nice with people who are a threat to the most vulnerable of our society. I’m frustrated that anti-vaxxers benefit from herd immunity while proudly refusing to contribute to it – placing their children and community at risk. And I’m not the only one. I’m sick and tired of conspiracy theories and lies peddled by people who want to avoid the social responsibility of vaccinating under the guise of “parental choice”. I’m sick of anti-vaxxers refusing to adhere to the same standards of proof they set for everyone else.

If anti-vaxxers cannot be responsible parents, perhaps it’s time someone else stepped in to provide in the best interest of their children. The Australian government has implemented the “No Jab, No Pay” policy, which essentially cuts certain portions of government financial assistance to those who refuse to vaccinate (excluding legitimate medical exemptions) and it has worked out pretty well so far. Since its commencement in January 2016, as a result of the change, 5,738 objectors have vaccinated their children. This article from Rebecca Rodal & Kumanan Wilson discussing the whether anti-vaxxers can be held legally liable for not vaccinating their children. So does this article from Slate.com.

Most of all, I am sick and tired of hearing anti-vaxxers cite the “parental choice” argument as a defence against not protecting their children. Choices come with consequences and contributing to the return and spread of preventative diseases should come with consequences as Skeptical Raptor discusses in this article. Unfortunately, when anti-vaxxers make the idiotic choice not to vaccinate, it’s not them who suffer, it’s our children and the other vulnerable members of society who pay the price of the choices of science deniers.

You’re not special. You’re not right. You just have Internet access. Scientists aren’t out to get you. Conspiracies are stupid. Pull your head out.

And one last time? Vaccines do not cause autism. Here’s some supporting evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence and more evidence.
