12 Dangerous Things Anti-Vaxxers Believe That Are Actually Child Abuse

Not only do anti-vaxxers spectacularly fail at comparative risk assessment and have deemed the statistically insignificant risk of a reaction to a vaccinate greater than the statistically significant risk of disability or death from a preventable disease - they put the lives of their own children at risk due to a delusion that their child is somehow exempt from the community and herd that they refuse to protect. It seems, anti-vaxxers fear medicine more than they fear shopping for infant coffins.

This line of thinking is largely due to an opinion that pharmaceutical companies manufacture vaccines as a device to make the population sick because apparently, vaccines cause everything from cancer to SIDs to diabetes to autism to autoimmune issues. Vaccines cause everything because science is hard. I don’t really understand the idea of the “Big Pharma conspiracy theory” where drug companies are using vaccines and medication to make us sick. In my country of Australia – our tax dollars pay for the healthcare system which means that if I need medication I get it heavily subsidised and pay no more than $20 (depending upon your needs, you don't need to pay at all), I don't pay to see a doctor and if I need to go to hospital, I don’t pay for anything at all.

According to the not-logic of the “Big Pharma” conspiracy, the Australian government uses the taxes I pay to provide medication when I have an illness which will make me sicker, in order to put me in hospital, in order for me to be treated with more medication. The medication and hospital stay will also be paid for by the government. This somehow equals “Big Pharma” getting money, which they will spend billions researching and developing more medication that will be used to make people sick, who the government give to for cheap, in order to land people in hospital for more medication – that will all be paid for by taxes.
