5. Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova Interrupted
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx8yLvb0gZM "Make Art." Professional musicians Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova were asked to compose music for a very low budget Irish film that was to be directed by John Carney, a former member of Hansard's band The Frames. Little did the pair know it would change their lives. With Irglova being only 17 and not having any acting experience and proposed lead Cillian Murphy pulling out, Carney turned to Hansard to fill the lead role. Having only acted once before in 'The Commitments' 16 years before, Hansard was reluctant but the resulting film was a critical hit and song 'Falling Slowly' won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Original Song. The speech itself was brief and unassuming but as Glen stepped back and Marketa took a deep breath ready to say her part the music swelled and the pair were ushered off stage. Later in the show host John Stewart gave Marketa a second chance to have her moment in the spotlight. 6. Marion Cotillard

So many times the winner feigns surprise as they make their way up to the stage but it is incredibly rare to see them in genuine shock and utter joy. Shaking and lost for words, Marion gasped her way through thanks for Olivier Dahan, the director of 'La Vie En Rose' before struggling to get any more words out and electing to speak from the heart. Seeing someone try to put their joy into words instead of reading a page of preprepared credits made for one of the best Oscar speeches of recent years.

I have one golden rule: There is no such thing as a guilty pleasure. Any song or film that makes you feel good doesn't need justifying.
