7. John Horne Tooke (18th Century) - "With All My Heart, Whose Wife Shall It Be?"
One of most-prominent British parliamentarians during the mid-18th Century, John Horne Tooke regularly debated with the likes of John Wilkes, John Glynn and other famous MPs. However, Tooke did not marry during his lifetime which was extremely unusual for a parliamentarian. Advised by a fellow member of the House of Commons to take a wife, Tooke replied:
"With all my heart, whose wife shall it be?"
Very sure of himself, Tooke had clearly been waiting for that opportunity...
