6. They'll successfully convince something isn't an expensive as it actually it is
Back to the in-person mind-games with this one, and the common occurrence of being told that whatever new game, toy or accessory the child wants is "really cheap...honestly!", only to get to the store and find it's three-times the price. What can you do in this situation? Having forgone a quick googling for the sake of a few extra life-restoring moments on the sofa, you took them at their word (you fool you!) and now you're stuck with a disgruntled retail-worker looking at you to either prolong his misery with a child-enraging domestic, or 'caving' again to the child's master-plan. Sometimes the child will add a whole new level to this game of wits, and pre-emptively know the real cost of what they want, instead misleading you towards the more-expensive item only to then plant the idea in your head that you're both 'settling' for the slightly cheaper option (and actually what they wanted all along). Crafty eh?
