12 Times That Shia LaBeouf Made An Absolute Ass Of Himself

2. Paraphrases Eric Cantona, Leaves Nymphomaniac Press Conference (February 2014)

At the Berlin Film Festival premiere of LaBeouf's new film Nymphomaniac, the actor again stirred controversy by appearing in street clothes with a baseball cap on, and making one statement, "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much." To the sheer bemusement of his co-stars Christian Slater, Stacy Martin, Stellan Skarsgard, Uma Thurman and producer Louise Vesth, LaBeouf then leaves, though Manchested United fans might realise that the quote was copied from Eric Cantona's famous 1995 press conference speech. The controversy was somewhat apt given the film's nature, and the eccentricity of its enigmatic director, Lars von Trier, who skipped out on the press conference altogether. However, this was just the tip of the iceberg for LaBeouf's bizarre antics at the Berlinale.
