12 Times That Shia LaBeouf Made An Absolute Ass Of Himself
9. Insults The Man Who Gave Him A Career, Steven Spielberg (May 2010)
The golden rule of Hollywood: don't bite the hand that feeds you and don't burn your bridges, especially if that bridge is named Steven Spielberg. Shia had no such foresight while promoting Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps at 2010's Cannes Film Festival, declaring that his divisive role in the controversial Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not all that great. LaBeouf said, "You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven . But the actor's job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn't do it. So that's my fault. Simple." LaBeouf would go on to say that Spielberg "dropped the ball". Oops. His Indy co-star Harrison Ford branded him a "f***ing idiot" for the comments, and LaBeouf later would state that he regretted publically criticising Spielberg, despite his misgivings with the nature of the studio system in Hollywood.
