13 People You Meet On Halloween

13. The Show-Off Couple

Don't get us wrong, couples' costumes can be fun and occasionally even (dare we say it) adorable, but they can also be typical, uncreative and extremely embarrassing. Let's take the above picture on the left: Danny and Sandy from the 1978 musical "Grease" are a classic example of the couples' costume that we're referring to as a "show-off" costume. This is because it's a really hard look to actually pull off €“ back in their day, Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta were quite the good-lookers, so it's no surprise that failed attempts at costumes like this are a guaranteed source of awkwardness at a party. If a pair choose to dress like them and are successful, they're identifying themselves as the most recognisable couples in history €“ ok, you're together, we get it already. Aside from this, like a long list of other couples' costumes, they are an unimaginative choice. The costumes that truly make a crowd go "awww" are the more original and modest attempts: dressing up as eggs and bacon is likely to get a more positive response than a Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke duo. Then there are the downright wacky costumes like Sheldon and Amy above on the right: "I'm Raggedy Ann and he's Raggedy C3PO!" Bonus points for creativity!
