14 Internet Memes We're Totally Obsessed With Using
4. "Ancient Aliens"
Some memes that are encountered on the internet have gone through a cycle of different uses over the years. How they started off to where they are now during their prime isn't always a straightforward road; sometimes there comes a turns or bends in the curve that is needed to get to the current destination. "Ancient Aliens" is indeed one of those types of memes. First started with a still shot of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos narrating a segment of Ancient Aliens on the History Channel, the frozen countenance on his face along with his hands forming an imaginary bubble was soon set to pave its way on the interwebs after originating on 4chan. What started off as a documentary on aliens soon turned into images of mockeries being rendered with Tsoukalos's face pasted underneath, declaring any one-word explanation that helps describe said mockery. The "Ancient Aliens" meme typically equates to simple, narrowed-down answers when trying to define something particular. Even snapshots of something unusual and strange happening can all boil down to one-word explanations. How we relate to it in the real world is mostly through the same means; when we see something awkward and strange happen, the tendency to laugh and waggishly make fun of the scenario is imminent. The wonted outcome falls under Tsoukalo's one-word brief, like men, girls, cats, dogs, Ford, and Windows.
