Being an administrative assistant means that you always have to be on top form because if you don't get the work done then no one else will, and that pile of work will start resembling the size of Everest. People are always quick to point the finger at you when something goes wrong (even if it wasn't your fault) and you're expected to keep them happy while they make you miserable. It's your job to sort of keep the office morale high with your attention to detail and pleasant banter, but that doesn't mean you have to be nice to everyone - especially colleagues who treat you as if you're in a lower position than they are. Because quite frankly, the office would fall apart if you weren't there to keep it together, after all, no one would know how to replace the toner!
